In memoriam: Huib Lit

Today I'm struck by grieve, Huib Lit, my ex-father in law, my daughters grandpa, a true hero and genuine good person has passed away after a miraculous but impossible battle. My thoughts go out to his wife Corrie, his daughters Dorenda and Wendy, to his grandchildren Yousri, Yana and Yasmina, his family and close friends. Saddened because I'm on the other side of the world and can't pay the respect and support I should, so from Huib's motherland I use these words to express that he will still always be with us and watching over us as a star in the sky:

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the gentle autumn's rain
When you awaken in the morning hush
I am a swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine at night
So do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die

Huib, I truly hope you have found rest and peace in a world that's more just than this one.
