Clearly I’ve had some exciting weeks bu looking in the mirror it becomes clear that these weeks also have been pretty exhausting. Before Tokobagus really took off I ran a website/software development company and hoped that one day I could focus all my energy on just one project. Besides that it would enable me to strive for perfection I also thought it would be pretty easy and not very time consuming. I remember my first days in our Bali office joking with Arno that it was time for putting our feet on the table and enjoy life. Well, the first part hasn’t really come true.
Anyway, after weeks with long days, nightly meetings and early morning events I had one more event before the Lebaran holidays really started. And even though I was tired I was also extremely excited about this event. Like last years also this year we, Tokobagus, work together with Senkom Mitra Polri during “Mudik” (homecoming). Mudik is a crazy period where tens of millions of people at the same time return to their home town to spend the holidays with their family and friends. The problem is that too many people are going through the same roads and highways causing F1 traffic jams. So together with Senkom we man dozens of posts in locations where the traffic jams are the worst. There we provide the people, who are sometimes in traffic for more than 15 hours, with basics like water and aid where needed.
Because of this we were honored by the kind people of Senkom to join one of the traffic check helicopter flights and see from above how bad the traffic jams really are. Of course I was super excited because it’s not daily someone has the change to see the 24mln people metropole Jakarta from a helicopter. So packed with video cameras we took off for a super experience and the change to see Jakarta from a different perspective.
Well, at first we thought the whole Mudik traffic jam was an overrated urban legend (see 1:18), until we saw the mother of all traffic jams on Nagreg (1:27 in the video: MACET TOTAL!). For the rest it took me hours to finally really figure out Framework Pro and After Effects but I love the end result. Btw, can any one tell me what and where the project is you see at 2:23? Looks like one hell of a ghetto in the making.
