NASA about to announce prove for extraterrestrial life?

While everyone is talking about Wikileaks and Julian Assange there seems to be some way much bigger news in the making. Just a few hours from now NASA will hold a press conference with the goal to:

“discuss an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial life. Astrobiology is the study of the origin, evolution, distribution and future of life in the universe.”

Now if NASA does an announcement like this you can bet your bottom dollar that they’ve got something big so the entire geek Astrobiology community is guessing what news NASA is about to bring. The most serious guesses are that prove is expected for some micro life form on other planets or “detected chemical evidence of bacteria utilizing it for photosynthesis (by following the elements)”.

Well, that would be as boring as disappointing. Maybe not from a scientific point of view but like Ellen DeGeneres said: “The only thing that scares me more than space aliens is the idea that there aren’t any space aliens. We can’t be the best that creation has to offer. I pray we’re not all there is. If so, we’re in big trouble.”. Personally I can’t imagine some bacteria from Saturn coming to our rescue, no sireee, we need Yoda, Chewbacca or E.T.!

So in the mean time get your Tin-Foil-Hats to protect some serious alien brain washing, watch out for abductions and anal probes. If you’re lucky maybe you can bunk with Tom Cruise in his £ 5mln. alien prove bunker and don’t forget to tune in on the live stream of the breaking NASA press conference.
